JOLT 24 Hour performance - call for participants
>I'm writing on behalf of James Hullick and Jolt Arts Inc. regarding a 24 Hour performance that is currently being curated as part of the Monolithica, ClickClack Project at Federation Square. We are wondering if anyone would be interested in taking part in this performance, basically volunteering your time (i.e. no performance fees are available).
Here are the details:
Square 2010: A continuous 24 hour piece for live musicians and electronic sound Federation Square 19th - 20th October 5:30pm - 5:30pm
Volunteers will be allocated a 1hr time slot which suits their availability. There will be a 15 minute overlap at either end to allow for interaction. Some basic instructions will be given to each performer/group of performers by James Hullick prior to the start of each act. There will be a fantastic sound system in place and lots of random fun to be had.
At this stage we are hoping to hear back from people about their interest, ideas and preferred time frame for performing. Co-ordination of exact times will then begin and more information will be given to each individual. If you'd like to perform or if you need to know more, just hit reply!
Cheers!

So U Think Ya Can't Dance
WE WANT YOU to be a part of the So U Think Ya Can't Dance contest at Horse Bazaar.
Our aim is to find Melbourne's most enigmatic, harebrained and/or cockamamie dancer, in order to recognize the talent that exists outside of the elite. Let us not forget to mention the chance you will have to win prizes (which are far too incredible to reveal at this point).
Limited spots are available for groups and individuals.
Please confirm your place by sending this stuff in ASAP:
- Your name, and a description of what you do in one sentence (or less?)
- A picture of you, a headshot, or whatever, hi- or low-res: up to you. ((This will be used to form a poster (not for publication) and will be used to identify you during the judging process.))
- The type of music you would be dancing too.
If you are selected you will need to supply us with a track of your choice, which could be anything from pop to extreme noise, 5 minutes maximum.
email to: soyouthinkyoucantdance@gmail.com
We will contact you with further details if you are selected.
-----------
FYI-The gigs will run one Saturday a month for two months:
9 Oct, 6 Nov
With a final (date TBC) to take place in December as part of Stutter at Horse Bazaar.
------------
If you'd rather not blow peoples' minds live with your moves, send us in some video footage to be screened between the acts!
(There will be a prize draw for videos too)
Can't wait to hear from everyone, and witness the undoubtable magic!

Undue Noise in Bendigo
Old Fire Station View St Bendigo
aphids & undue noise present WAITING TO TURN INTO PUZZLE
WAITING TO TURN INTO PUZZLE is a collaboration between a film artist and a contemporary classical composer, performed by a live chamber group while the film is being projected
This collaboration between film artist Louise Curham and Melbourne composer David Young features an experimental hand-processed super 8 film shot in Yokohama Japan, which forms the basis of the musical score. This graphic music notation allows a certain freedom and spontaneity in the performance of the music which accompanies the film, whilst remaining precisely structured. The music is performed live by Melbourne contemporary chamber group Quiver
Quiver is a group of young musicians described by The Age as a ‘talent-rich new body’, who joined forces early in 2009 to pursue the exploration of sound through performance, improvisation and installation. They are dedicated to presenting refined interpretations of new and obscure scores, and have already commissioned works by contemporary Australian composers. Quiver completed a highly successful debut concert series in 2009 and was awarded the Alan C Memorial Fund and the Atheneum Award for excellence in chamber music through the Victorian College of the Arts.
Quiver are: Rebecca Lane - flute, Aviva Endean - clarinet, Luke Paulding - tuba, Matthias Schack-Arnott - percussion, Jess Fotinos - harp
more information at http://www.aphids.net
Supporting them will be Castlemaine group Atmos Ensemble. Ætmos Ensemble grew out of Drome, a free improvisation event which ran for 2 years in Castlemaine from 2008 till early this year. The Ensemble is free improv and anti virtuoso in attitude, Their name defines the style and they aim to explore the musical and atmospheric possibilities of specific acoustic spaces. Xanya Mumunya – electric harp, Larry Apedaile – 6 string violin & voice, Peter Winn – 1 string bass & percussion, Jude Russell – keyboard & autoharp, Scott Sanders – guitar, percussion, breath instruments & voice, Simon Howard – trumpet, percussion & erhu.

MARCO FUSINATO
On the back of last year’s incredible showcase the Ambarchi/Fox/Fusinato/Pateras line up is set to deliver another astonishing feast of sound. Fusinato’s noise maelstrom has been recently refined on-stage in Japan and Pateras is fresh from a sojourn in Silicon Valley where he’s been sharpening his sonic weaponry. This time around he’s joined by legendary Agents of Abhorrence rhythm genius Max Kohane and together they are PIVIXKI. Ambarchi has been working on a 6xLP Alga Marghen release and Fox has cooked up a few new jaw-dropping tricks with smoke, mirrors and, of course, lasers. This is a must see event delivered on one of the best sound-systems in town!

- RAFAEL ANTON IRISARRI(U.S)
Seattle based artist Rafael Anton Irisarri (aka The Sight Below) has been exploring textural electronics for almost half a decade. His recorded output, captures an essential vision of floating tones, deep pulsing bass and textured Gaussian curves. His use of repeated phrases, taps into minimalist ideals, whilst his use of atmospheric layers of reverb suggests a more cinematic quality. His music has been described by The Wire contributing writer Jefferson Petrey as ''a dual perspective close-up focus on the micro textures of rustling static-filled sonic surfaces with the wide-open distant tree lined horizons of sunset at dusk.''

- BUGGATRONIC
Daniel Buess: Percussion, Electronics
James Hullick: No input mixing desks, Machines
The Swiss/ Australian duo that is Buggatronic started in 2009 when Daniel Buess and James Hullick joined forces in a cyclonic collision of sound. There is the signature of industrial noise in Buggatronic, but there is also a love of tightly timed formal design and aural choreography in the work. Daniel Buess brings his percussion background to the duo, as well as an array of electronic gadgetry and memories of space rock out convulsions. James Hullick meets Buess head on with specially built robotic music machines and the grind of no-input mixing desks. Amidst the showers of amplified dynamism and hard walls of sound, Buggatronic also capture the delicate moments. And then the cochlea tsunami washes it all away.
Buggatronic is urban life amplified for the 21st century.
HOLY BONER VS UNAUSTRALIANS
Reprising their collab from a couple of years ago, the deranged experimental noisecore of Holy Boner (Brad Smith: drums, Nik Kennedy: voice/fx) meets the mind-bending psychedelic tinnitus of The Unaustralians (Ein: shred, Aus: butchery) - UnHolyAustralianBoners!!! Crikey!!!CRAY VS CLEANINGLADY
