Everybody Talks About The Weather - Corner Hotel - 3 Dec 2014

Robin Fox, Marco Fusinato and Oren Ambarchi

The Corner Hotel Wed Dec 3
IT’S HAPPENING AGAIN! Robin Fox, Marco Fusinato and Oren Ambarchi return to the Corner Hotel, presenting Everybody Talks About the Weather... Every year the Corner PA is put through it’s paces by a trio of Australia’s most uncompromising artists. It’s an irresistible chance for FoxFusinato and Ambarchi to showcase where their sounds are at another year into this thing we call ‘being alive.’ It’s also a great opportunity for audiences to see and hear these world class acts in an environment where every frequency get’s a hearing.

Experience a slice of Marco Fusinato’s noise-guitar continuum (just in case you missed the epic Spectral Arrows at this years Dark Mofo). It’s a window onto a sound plane where fracture is normal and turbulence is re-defined in a new abstracted physics of contingency.

Hear the one and only Oren Ambarchi with fresh new releases on Editions Mego, Drag city and Black Truffle. He’s now a globetrotting nomad who's works and performances in Australia are getting rarer and harder to catch. Somehow this man keeps refining the unrefineable.

Robin Fox has been rolling out his new mind-blowing RGB laser show globally with recent shows at Tramway Glasgow, the Barbican London, Vivid Festival, Mona Foma and the recent Melbourne premiere at Liquid Architecture. RGB won’t fit in the Corner, so this show will be a return to the original format of his laser show MONACHROMA.Fox will step off the plane from Banff and onto the Corner stage. What happens when you mix noise, lasers and jet lag? Only one way to find out……be there.

OREN AMBARCHI: 9:30-10:10
ROBIN FOX: 10:20-10:50

Good Improv/Bad Improv returns to Musikunst - Edinburgh Castle - 29 Nov 2014

"Good Improv/Bad Improv" explores both negative and positive behaviours in group improvisation. Performers are arranged into trios, then each musician draws an instruction from a hat, which they then follow in the subsequent improvisation, without revealing the instruction to their fellow performers or audience until afterwards. Instructions include:

- Play softer than everyone else
- Completely disregard what the others play
- Be the star of the trio

Can you pick which are the good or bad behaviours?

"Good Improv/Bad Improv" premiered at MUSIKUNST earlier in 2014, and returns for an encore performance with a new half dozen of skilled, brave (and slightly nervous) improvisers:

Jim Denley
Jenny Barnes
Mat Blackwell
Llara Goodall
Carmen Gar Man Chan
David Prescott-Stead

Performers will mix-and-match into 4 different trios throughout the afternoon, with multiple 'rounds' of the game.
