Friends, we are celebrating five years of independent, under-represented music from all corners of the globe - USA, Belgium, UK, Canada, France, Croatia, Austria, Italy, Finland, Estonia, Poland, South Korea, China, Thailand, Malaysia, Chile, Argentina, the Netherlands, Japan, Brazil, Australia, India, Iran, Spain, Mexico, Portugal, Denmark Greece, Puerto Rico, South Africa, Switzerland, and Germany.
Our underlying philosophy has always been to release inspiring, cutting edge, challenging, thought provoking, underrepresented, underground music regardless of whether it will bring a potential financial return or not.
It has not been easy; we receive no funding and little to no support from ‘independent’ record stores and sporadic support from a few discerning community DJs in Australia. Being at the arse end of the world and in a geographically ‘challenging' location from our largest market, the US and Europe means shipping is horrendously expensive and is an obvious deterrent for music fans who appreciate our titles but can’t justify selling a kidney to pay for shipping an LP.
With over 150 releases ranging from finger-picking, acid/avant folk, psych rock, no wave, post-punk, experimental electro, drone, krautrock, free / spiritual jazz, Indian classical, experimental Middle Eastern, and free improvisation; we are at a critical moment and we need to clear the stock room!
There are many great titles that have been overlooked, un-listened to or ignored and if we are to continue to fund the next bunch of exciting releases, we need your support. Take your time to listen through our vast catalogue. Unfortunately, the algorithm has significantly changed the way music is listened to. We've gleaned from our Bandcamp statistics that the average time folks listen to a track is 20 seconds…20 seconds!
Very little of our catalogue has a ‘hook' or 'chorus ‘ within 20 seconds. These releases are meant to be listened to and appreciated in their entirety. So give them the time they deserve. Give them some space and listen to these tracks in their entirety and if what you hear inspires you please purchase. Or if you are not in a position to purchase, please share with a friend who is.
