The artists:
Reuben Lewis’s practice is both singular and eclectic. As an award-winning trumpeter, composer, improviser, bandleader and producer he has refined a diverse electro-acoustic language that has been lauded as “a vivid listening experience that gleams with sinister detail” (The Wire). Devised through trumpet alongside live processing with pedals and laptop, his music plays on our expectations and unravels all semblance of familiar form to create a new musical narrative that is “beyond category” (The Australian).
Sooji is a Naarm-based musician creating works that explore adventurous sonic territories through performance, collaboration, composition and spatialised sound installations. Working primarily with synthesisers and acoustic instruments, she embraces the unexpected outcomes that arise through collaboration and improvisation. Sooji is a member of Stathis//Davey//Kim, a composer collective creating large-scale outdoor sound works with analogue synthesisers and electroacoustic ensemble Golden Sands.
Boorloo sound artists Scientia and Bilg weave immersive sonic environments using improvised analogue modular synthesis and percussive textures to spontaneously generate slowly changing soundscapes. They're the two minds behind the WA event NoizeMachin!! and the label Burnt Seed Records.
We acknowledge the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation, the continuing custodians of the land where this event takes place
