"Rhytidome" - a video by Ernie Althoff and John Campbell

Visuals: Detail images of Eucalyptus trunks, sometimes emulating the colour-field school of abstract painting.

Soundtrack: Bach. Renowned family of composers.

You’ll know of Johann Sebastian (1685-1750). He begat twenty children with two successive wives. Five sons were accomplished composers. Their music is generally less well known now, but in the eighteenth century the third son, Carl Philipp Emanuel (1714-1788), was famous while works by his father were largely ignored. Australian composer and author Felix Werder astutely assessed CPE’s work, regarding it as masterly as Johann senior’s; and also suggests we don’t ignore Carl's brothers, Wilhelm Friedemann and Johann Christian.
