New release on Frustration Jazz

Rat Filth Sleep Soon

Lo-fi, free and fried. Sleep Soon is the third release from noisy combo Rat Filth, consisting of Timothy K Brown (solo, Mount Trout) and Noah Symons aka Great Earthquake. Lots of sizzle with this new collection, mostly made with guitar and drums, particularly on the more energetic tracks like Feeling It and Pure Filth. A bare bones one-mic-in-a-room recording set up and rough editing also add to the immediacy of these nine improvised tracks. It’s not all overheated though, with some relatively slower pieces like the droning atmospherics of Another Popper and the sub-marine percussive echo of Upset Rhythm. Distorted and contorted but still a variety of flavours amidst the catharsis.

Also released earlier in 2021:

Two solo albums from label owner Tim Panaretos, now Hobart-based but did time in Melbourne a few years ago. Opposites End was recorded in Melbourne and features Tim's acid folk/ethno-psych/free improv wanderings on the electric bouzouki. Something In the Way consists of new improvised pieces on upright (and out-of-tune) piano, post-minimalist and kind of moody.

Both available on CD-r and Digitally:
