This month at MUSIKUNST, what would happen if an
improv/experimental/noise audio/visual event attempted to be so rhythmically enticing as to make you feel like dancing? Would you?
(dancing not required but thoughtful chin stroking in time to the music
might be in lieu of) - "DISCO-KUNST" attempts to explore this possibility
with help from the following:
PSELODUX
REFUND vs XENOSINE
DEEP VEIN THROMBOSIS
CHIMERA DISCO
-------------------------------------------
- PSELODUX -
Pselodux is one of the many pseudonyms of the multi-genre,
multi-project, and multi-instrumentalist Rob Curilli. Rob will be
playing an intimate set of noisy improvised cosmic IDM with analog synth
arpeggios and melted digital drums and is brought to you by the colour
cyan
- REFUND vs XENOSINE -
xenosine is the work of
Vijay Thillaimuthu, an audio-visual artist working across live
performance and installation. xenosine is about creating intense sensory
environments where a synchronistic relationship between sound and video
can be perceived.
Born in the Sydney illegal party movement,
bred in the Melbourne breakcore scene, and raised in the Melbourne free
improvisation community, modular synthesist Refund will be heading
against Xenosine in a sonic battle of blood, armed with audio visual
weapons of mass destruction.
- DEEP VEIN THROMBOSIS -
Deep Vein Thrombosis is the new "dirty techno" project from Carey Knight
otherwise known as Dotabata. Employing modular synths, tape loops and
other archaic technologies. While the intention is to make techno. The
act of improvised production on equipment not built for the task can
yield varying results... 100% analog.
- CHIMERA DISCO -
Taking it's name from
the mythical 3-headed beast, Chimera Disco is Ciaran Geoghegan &
Piers Morgan (as core members) using a haphazard collection of pedals,
beat-machines and hand-held devices to create their own psychotic
version of "disco". To make up the third head of the beasty, Chimera
Disco occasionally invites a rotating list of performers as special
guests in the lineup. This performance will feature the the
ever-evolving talents of the cleaninglady, the Supreme Overlord himself,
Stevie Richards.
Entry $10 / $5 concession
Edinburgh Castle Hotel 681 Sydney Road, Brunswick - The Edinburgh Castle has meals and drinks available from the bar &
kitchen all day & night and is generally speaking a kid-friendly
venue
