Safe In Sound Festival. Sat 01–Sun, 02. Nov 2025

The Safe in Sound Festival is a two-day event celebrating experimental music in an inclusive and accessible way. It brings together artists with disabilities, established experimental musicians from across Australia, and children, all sharing the same stage as collaborators.

For more than seven years, Safe in Sound has delivered intimate in-home concerts for people with disabilities, making experimental sound part of everyday life. This year, for the first time, the program expanded into a public festival at the Brunswick Mechanics Institute in collaboration with Liquid Architecture and Next Wave.

The program features:

Artists with disabilities presenting original approaches to sound and performance

Leading experimental musicians working collaboratively rather than as headliners

Children and young creators contributing playfulness and fresh perspectives

The festival creates an inclusive sound world where hierarchies dissolve and all voices are given equal weight. Audiences can expect everything from delicate improvisations to bold, adventurous works.

Safe in Sound Festival offers a rare opportunity to hear diverse experimental practices on one stage and to experience how creativity, accessibility, and community come together through sound.
