The Future Poets of Tarneit is the collective personae of those navigating hope and despair in the dank, cloying bedrooms of suburbia; their fingers crackling across the instruments and tools of liberation, channeling Adorno’s declaration that “…what can oppose the decline of the west is not a resurrected culture but the utopia that is silently contained in the image of its decline.”
This album, recorded between July 2022 and December 2023, was inspired by two, distinct experiences that became curiously entwined - the first, a serendipitous discovery of a box of cassettes on the side of a road in Reservoir. The second, a fortnight spent immersed in the Brazilian megalopolis São Paulo. Together, they forged the sonic experimentation before you.
The work has been given a full, but limited release, accompanied by a cassette in a dandy etched case and a photobook.
The Future Poets of Tarneit create in Naarm, upon land that was never ceded, and always was and always will be Aboriginal land. We pay our thanks and respects to the traditional owners of the lands upon which we live and create - the Wurrundjeri people of the Kulin nations.
