Composer Christopher de Groot together with Melbourne’s
only exotica band SLIDE NIGHT release their 72-minute exotica magnum opus
Sailing Ships & Tarot Cards.
The album, released through New Zealand art music label RATTLE RECORDS
is a
melting
pot of 1960s exotica, Delia Derbyshire inspired sci-fi music, classic
Bernard Herrmann and a pinch of John Zorn – Tropical noir-nightmare!
Incorporating mysterious sound bites and location sounds,
Sailing Ships & Tarot Cards
is an auditory journey
around Australia and the world. It blends the rich and fascinating
world of mid-century exotica with flavours of the Australian bush and a
twist of David Lynch.
The album is out now through Northside Records, Readings Carlton and Rattle Records –
