- Amy-Jo Jory

Amy-Jo Jory is a Melbourne based artist, writer and curator from Aotearoa, New Zealand. For the past decade she has exhibited widely in Australia and New Zealand, and has been a director of artist run initiatives in Melbourne and Dunedin. She has a Masters of Fine Art by Research from the Victorian College of the Arts, and has been the recipient of postgraduate scholarships and prizes. Her work is held in the Vulcan Steel Collection, and private collections worldwide.

She is curator of Melbourne’s Little Woods Gallery, and supports young artists at the Artful Dodgers Studios.

“The steely blue murk of a swollen river; yellowed lace curtains; the hollow sound of steel on wood; forks on plates; the drone of fridges in the night. I hoard these clichés like broken bone china. These clichés are like friends, they are family.

Sometimes I do public endurance performance, write short stories, make uneasy videos, collect sounds, assemble used-up objects, and squirrel away footage of gaping vacuum cleaners and backyards shivering in the rain. To feel brave I wear bright colours, glitter, sequins and shoulder pads.”

- T. R. Carter

T. R. Carter is an artist whose practice focuses on video, installation and performance art. Her work investigates the communicative power of feminine resistance through art to open up discussions on liberated expressiveness and lived experience. She has also dealt with theories of abjection within art as a tool for problem solving and has recently become involved in educational theory and documentary video. She has exhibited throughout Sydney, Newcastle, Melbourne and Perth and co-foundered and directed ARIs Serial Space in Sydney and Art Beat in Melbourne.

Travers Nash
