Description
:
Having designed an instrument to bridge acoustic and electronic performance Zól Bálint creates earthy, guitar-driven electronic music. His improvised live shows combine guitar playing with live sampling, looping and manipulating sounds into a blend of styles influenced by afro-jazz & experimental electronic artists.

Zól has performed his unique improvised live show at Strawberry Fields Festival and at Arts Centre Melbourne, lectured at the Box Hill Institute of Music and the Melbourne Ableton User Group, won a ‘Best Tech with Launchpad’ award from Novation Music, as well as being invited to present and perform at STEIM Amsterdam as part of many other European summer performances and workshops planned in 2015.

However - before leaving our shores, he’s putting on an electroacoustic sonic spread at Some Velvet Morning, playing alongside fellow experimental multi-instrumentalist The Man Who Wasn’t There (Andrew Watson) on May 6th from 8:00pm.

Watson weaves violin, guitar, noise and loops into a live instrumental soundtracks. He has performed in venues ranging from small bars to exotic and opulent spaces such as Melbourne's Royal Exhibition Buildings and Panjim Beach in Goa, India.

Watson has acted as the principle composer for The Interim Lovers, co-scored the Melbourne International Arts Festival show 'Elemental' and both recorded and performed live with a host of bands including Waywardbreed, Empire of Poets, Midnight Scavengers, The Single Men's Drinking Club, Broken Flight, Monty Sparrow, Jack on Fire, Philemon and Vampillia (Japan) to name just a few.

The Man Who Wasn't There's live album release, REB 26.07.14 is out now through Hawk Moth Records. Recording for a debut studio album is currently underway and is due for release later in 2015.
