MUSIKUNST OCTOBER 2014

This month at MUSIKUNST we will be asking you to listen closely as Ben Byrne curates an afternoon of voices, modules and patches that traverses from the organic to the synthesised. Please note that for this show we will be utilising the intimacy of the "pool-room" at The EC as our event space for this special presentation of MUSIKUNST. Performing will be:

NADIR

ANTHEA CADDY & MATT DAVIS

ALICE HUI-SHENG CHANG

NADIR
is Alex White (Euro Modular Synth) and Ben Byrne (Laptop with Max/MSP). Alex’s synth is processed and reconfigured. The resulting sound is a combination of the laptop and synthesizers outputs. The music produced is pulsating with opposites. Oscillations and disturbances envelop and saturate one another as a host of possibilities surface, pattern and disintegrate.

ANTHEA CADDY & MATT DAVIS
(Cello & Doepfer respectively) together produce an austere music that collapses the distinction between the acoustic and electronic. Tense lines of oscillation and bowing layer and intertwine, held in place by a powerful sense of space.

ALICE HUI-SHENG CHANG's
work focuses solely on developing extended vocal technique as a means for improvisation and communication. Her vocal explorations include sound from varying tension of physical vocal parts, driving air into alternative passages and vibration of calls and breath. The physical sound produced by a mouth and throat organism, under no computer manipulation, is not only for the artist to be fully involved during performance, but also to challenge the listener with an intimate relationship while receiving. The results of these explorations create a delicate world of primal and vulnerable soundscapes.

Venue opens at Midday and food & drink is available all day

Event runs in The Pool-Room from 2:30 til 5:30 pm

Entry: $10 / $5 conc
