This Tuesday at MIUC we venture through the viscerally voltaic ambits
of the sonoverse, with two duos featuring masters of textural and
isochronal circuitry manipulation, and a rare performance by an impious
cryptomusicological beast. Steve Law plays racked
synthesis devices as large as fridges and Sean Baxter insists that any
announcement of him concludes with ''in the motherflippin' house y'all; John Jacobs
is a virtuosic plunderphonist and will be debuting a modular based on
an obscure Schaefferian instrument; this set sells itself. Also
exploring the possibilities of liberated sonics in a n electrifyingly
electrified context are Richie Cyngler and Dale Chapman,
again two diverse explorateurs more than adept at obfuscating the lines
between anodic intention and cathodic consequence. And the entity known
as Voidhanger emerges from misanthropic isolation
after a year and a half absence from MIUC to commit his final aleatoric
rite of industrial quietus at maximal decibel before disappearing like a
black gleam into the northern skies.
