This week at MIUC we are delighted to play host to two world-class
European sonic voyagers as we delve into the densely codified
intersectional realm of conjectural computer music and indeterminate
acoustic improvisation. Pioneering Welsh digitalist Richard Barrett and über-versatile Serbian harpist Milana Zarić
are two formidable names within the aleatoric sonoverse, so logic
dictated that they be extended the opportunity to sonically meet and
converse with two of the most adept vocabulary-broadening Melbournite
musicians at hand, namely percussionists Nat Grant and Joe Talia. On a similarly mechanical-percussive bent two of our finest sonically academic stalwarts, mainframe-manipulator Warren Burt and skins-smasher Phil Brophy,
engage in some extemporaneous speculation replete with mandatory Aussie
larrikinism bent. And after almost having done so last September at
MIUC, Burt will also indulge in some solo sonic construction, exploring
the inner working of teeny-tiny tunings without the least hint of sonic
destruction of mechagodzillian teddy-bear dismantlement.
