Tuesday May 6th @ the Make It Up Club

This installment of MIUC is chock-full of indeterminate surrealisms, ingenious madcappery and impetuous improvisation as four contrastive acts ponder the same thematic material of unadulterated sonic liberty. Charles Ives is well-known for meditating on The Unanswered Question with a plank of wood applied gently to piano keys; the Charles Ives Singers take said plank and smash conventional music over the back of the head with it. Michael Zulicki and Tarquin Manek are an entirely different group who are playing at a different time and are also smashers. Dylan Martorell is a name that conjures hypercomplex visual creations that cause the mind to boggle and the brain to ache (for more), so just try to imagine the aforementioned stimuli broadcast directly through your ears into your auditory cortex. And Dale Gorfinkel presents his new home-brew kit construction, a unique instrument concerned with the manipulation and redirecting of air via balloons and valves and miscellany until it vibrates into some truly confounding music.
