This edition of the Make It Up Club is another plentiful helping at
the beautifully confusing sonic buffet comprised of Melbourne's
profusely varied and intriguingly flavoured aural improvisers, this week
with added piquant de danse. Simon Charles and Alisdair McIndoe
serve up delicate flakes of lightly-seared abstracted woodwind and an
accompanying medley of movement, with a well-refined collaborative
palette aged over half a decade. Ghost Gums savour the
pungency of locally-sourced looseness filtered through timeless
skitteryness, with freshly-tossed guitars and drums hinting at an
underlying bitterness in their eloquently undercooked audial broth. And
the Royal Melbourne Noise Choir pits four homebrewers
of vocal noise against one another to dish up what sounds like being
blanched, feels like being julienned, and will make your head feel like
it never needs to eat again.
