Tuesday January 28th @ the Make It Up Club

This Tuesday is your last chance to aleatorically party on down for the Make It Up Club's sweet 16th birthday with our final four groups, representing three continents of sonic vocabulary, further fostering intercultural collaboration via communicatory spontaneous music creation and mutual construction of transcendent textures. Melbournian diasporic cellist Anthea Caddy returns to the MIUC stage on her yearly jaunt home from Berlin to the motherland for a clash of string and drum resonance with percussive force of nature Robbie Avenaim to round out a killer month of rarefied cross-cultural collaborations. It has also been two years since American modular maven Ben Vida blasted dense synthetic frequency clusters at the architecture of Bar Open, but in 2014 he's here to celebrate improvisation by affecting and reacting to the patch pin matrix, knob and joystick manipulations of Mathew Watson to co-create some layered electronic ecstasy. We also have a first time Make It Up Clubber in British vocalist Viv Corringham, a notional storyteller of lingual deconstruction and textural liberation, ably welcomed to the environs of Melbournian improv by local legend and ambassador-of-impromptu Dave Brown. And a cavalcade of free jazz firebrands corralled by living luminary Kris Wanders and featuring double bassist Slawek Janicki, saxophonist Brett Evans, drummer Damien Ellis & keyboardist Jude Russel, contextualise that the MIUC would probably be nonexistent were it not for Ornette's actions over 50 years ago.
