This edition of Make It Up Club sees some serious sonic densities
dealt to those who dare to delve into the more brutal side of the
improvised music oeuvre. Robin Fox and Marco Fusinato
resurrect their rarified duo on one of the scarce occasions when both
are actually in Melbourne at the same time; brains will surely melt, but
they'll be thankful for the privilege. Melbourne's premier Testicle
Candy tribute band Susie's Gone take the leap from
lurking in the shadows of looped Deep Purple, Black Sabbath and Hawkwind
to casting their own boogie-noise darkness with the help of the
monolithic improvised heaviness of Hotel Wrecking City Traders. Garth Paine casts his Tempest to mangle beats into a glitch-ridden danceable detritus. And Fontaine
mash together swirling loops of chaos with menacing brass, angular
stabs of guitar and driving drums into a post-Miles angular rock-out to
enrich both your consciousness and your neck muscles.
