Tuesday March 19th @ the Make It Up Club

This week's edition of MIUC is an entire evening dedicated to the most heavily culturally encoded instrument known to humanity: the voice of the Homo Sapiens. Dutch sound poet/improviser Jaap Blonk demonstrates his virtuosically controlled yet delightfully puerile approach to the manipulation of lungs, throat, mouth and nose by rinnzekete bee bee nnz krr müüüü, ziiuu ennze ziiuu rinnzkrrmüüüü, Rrummpff tillff toooo? The motley septet of Pete Hyde, Christopher LG Hill, Angus Leslie, Jenny Barnes, Benjamin Harrison, Loretta Wilde and Zak Pidd will spontaneously create an anti-story conveyed in whispers, gurgles, screams, growls and whatever other 21st century narrative devices strike them at the time. And Gian Slater and Sophia Brous explore some of the more sonorous possibilities of the voice in a first-time duo that, if anything like either's solo output, should be devastatingly beautiful.
