Kynan Tan presents two varied performances
displaying the broad range of his work.
--------------------------------------------------
Kynan Tan performs "rætina" - solo audio-visual performance
Material from Kynan's album on the listen/hear collective label, melting style boundaries in a mix of glitch, synthesised spectral textures and processed rhodes and guitar samples. Combined with a system for directly converting sound into video - this computer music performance becomes an immersive, sensory spectacle.

"Té" - Andrew Brooks [saxophone] & Kynan Tan [computer]
+ Alice Hui-Sheng Chang [voice]
Improvised electroacoustic textures, sound mass and voice
Kynan's collaboration with saxophonist Andrew Brooks began while both
were living in Berlin, where they started discussing sound and methods
of group improvisation. The group has performed in Germany and
Australia, collaborating with artists such as Philip Zoubek, Joe Talia,
Finn Ryan and James Rushford. Collectively each collaboration draws
parallels between electronic and acoustic sound, each taking part in
cacophonous noise, heavy drones and contemplative tones.
On this evening Té will be collaborating with Alice Hui-Sheng Chang, who's work focus solely on developing extended vocal technique as a means for improvisation and communication. Her vocal explorations include sound from varying tension of physical vocal parts, driving air into alternative passages and vibration of calls and breath. The results of these explorations create a delicate world of primal and vulnerable soundscapes.
