Magda Mayas (Berlin) + Tony Buck (Aus/Berlin) duo meets David Brown somewhere in sonic space.
Thursday March 1
Magda Mayas is a pianist living in Berlin. Developing a vocabulary utilizing both the inside as well as the exterior parts of the piano, using preparations and objects, she explores textural, linear and fast moving sound collage. On this occasion at Monkey she will be playing clavinet.
Born in Sydney, now residing in Berlin, Tony Buck is regarded as one of Australia's most creative and adventurous exports, with vast experience across the globe. He has been involved in a highly diverse array of projects including drumming with the highly regarded trio The Necks.
Magda and Tony will be joined by local improvisor David Brown (AKA candlesnuffer) on prepared guitar.
Apparently this trio will only drink tequila on the night.
Rosalind Hall + David Brown (duo) and Carolyn Connors (solo)
Sunday March 4
Rosalind Hall and David Brown revisit their prepared saxophone and prepared guitar duo. With only a handful of gigs under their respective belts the subtlety of sound nuances they evoke together along with the soft silences make you believe they have been playing together for years.
Carolyn Connors vocalist extraordinaire will amaze, intrigue and exalt with her unbelievable range of vocal, nasal and bodily sonic phenomena in super human feats of stamina in sound.
