Three very exploratory performances this edition including some unusual collaborations. From Mexico City, Jorge Ramirez has been blowing away Australian audiences this week with his complex and precise musique concrete style laptop performances, and for his MIUC show is joined by Melbourne's master of post-hardcore vocal growls, Pete Hyde (Whitehorse, CTV, Occult Blood, etc). Kevin CK Lo makes his solo debut after a searing set with Knowself in June, promising multi-instrumental abstraction. And, another absurdly genius concept from Shane Van Den Akker, this time comprising a trio of experimental mischief makers (from Gallactagogue and GoGenreEverything, no less) utilising mobile phones as the sonic interface, in a collaboration performed both remotely and in situ.
