Dreamland Recordings Presents:

JESUS' BLOOD NEVER
FAILED ME YET

On the 40th
anniversary of its premiere, Barnaby Oliver and Steph Brett, in association with Dreamland Recordings, present an audacious reimagining of Gavin Bryars' groundbreaking 1971 composition Jesus Blood Never Failed Me Yet.

The piece is built around the singing of an anonymous homeless man recorded by Bryars in London's East End. The man's simple but affecting song is enriched with a simple, though gradually evolving, orchestral accompaniment.

Expanding the composer's original vision, a cast of over 20 musicians from Melbourne's myriad musical subcultures join forces to create a unique performance event. An 'in the round' staging intermingles performers and audience to create an immersive experience that blurs the boundary between audience and performer. Whilst the original 1971 performance lasted 25 minutes this performance will unfold over an epic 120 minutes.

Performers
include:

ADAM SIMMONS, DAVE BROWN, BLOOD RED BIRD, AVIVA ANDEAN, STEPH BRETT, BARNABY OLIVER, LISA MACKINNEY, TIM PLEDGER & MORE…

A spectacular visual counterpoint is provided by pioneering lightshow artist Hugh McSpedden, famous for his visual projections since the 1960s.

Sunday, May 1 • 8:00pm - 10:00pm
Anytime Place, 20 Ovens St. Brunswick
20 Ovens Street, Brunswick. $10.00.
