Wunderlust Tape Launch - Revolver Upstairs - 27 Aug 2011

'LUST TAPES
The greatest songs have been sung; the best played and re-played many times! So whats a band to do when all the deepest, most remarkable music has already happened? Perhaps what's needed is a different kind of music; the music of poets, madmen, artists, monks, yogis, shamans, eccentrics, magicians, anarchists and rare, bizarre sub-culturites such as the kraut-rockers & psychedelic speed freaks of Japan. Perhaps the ever-fresh, unusual and irrepressible sounds of WUNDERLUST embody the energy of the 'off-beat'? And maybe their new album 'LUST TAPES epitomises 'unpredictable' and actualises a new sonic bliss!? And absolutely, undeniably, without question nor hesitation should you employ your curious mind to walk your wondrous ass to Revolver Upstairs on Saturday August 27th for the 'LUST TAPES' album launch! Joined by sonic-sorcerer Oren Ambarchi and his axe-wielding octet 'HUSBANDS' & the harmonious, garage-sci-fi-psychedelia of synth-melodist 'OTHER PLACES', this is a special and rare event for all who seek a new way of thinking...or for those who just like weird, hot, loud shit. Doors 9pm. $10 on the door.

Topology - Recital Centre - 20 Aug 2011

Released in February, Topology’s recent album release Difference Engine, received an exceptional response across ABC’s Radio National, Classic FM and alternative radio Australia wide.

In typical Topology fashion, with 4 or 5 projects on the boil at any one time, they launched Difference Engine in Brisbane in February, in Sydney at the Darling Harbour Jazz Festival in late June and now, in and amongst the release of Airwaves, have just announced their Melbourne Difference Engine album launch. The show will take place Saturday August 20 at Melbourne Recital Centre in Southbank and will see the group perform Difference Engine in its entirety. Tickets available from http://www.melbournerecital.com.au/.

Coupled with extensive travel, both Australia wide and internationally, this sort of many tiered and multiple activity approach to their career has become standard operating procedure for Topology. As aforementioned, 2011 has already seen them perform Airwaves at The Singapore Arts Festival, setting them in good stead for upcoming performances in Belgium this October and The Netherlands in January. New additions to Shame File Music catalogue

New stuff available from Shame File mailorderhttp://ShameFileMusic.com

Undecisive God "RPMs 3-4" CD - "RPMs 3x3" and "RPMs 4" are the continuation of a series of compositions for turntables that began in 2008. This concept acts as a basic structure for exploration of different turntable settings, preparations and interactions. All four parts of the series released so far work primarily with layers of broken records/vinyl shards on each turntable, which creates a percussive yet chaotic effect as the tone arm skips from shard to shard, playing brief snatches of music from each. Two other tracks are included - another turntable piece and a collage of field recordings. Ltd edition 100 copies - AU$10ppd

**Also newly available is a previously unreleased Undecisive God track "Non Play", on the Bleak Metal online compilation from New Weird Australia. Download it for nix.

Screwtape "S&M" mini CD - Extremely harsh and loud, sample and feedback-based work that smacks you around the chops the way only Screwtape can. - AU$7ppd

Dark Passenger/Infinite Decimals "Dark Decimals" casette - Dark Passenger provides cinematic ambient guitar drone sketches, whilst Infinite Decimals offer a longer minimalist guitar and bass jam - AU$7ppd

Various Artists "Knife Culture" 2CD - A cross section of the dark fringes of Melbourne experimental and noise music, featuring Sean Baxter, Marco Fusinato, Rod Cooper, Dead Boomers, Screwtape and many more - AU$30ppd

Dotabata "Cursed Earth" cassette - One of the more interesting of the current crop of Melbourne harsh noise artists, this tape showcases subtly developing noisescapes created from effects, field recordings and contact microphones. AU$5ppd
