launch at the Toff in Melbourne on 13th Jan & Sydney TBA!
The Hi God People side was recorded around the same time as their previous 12 inch split with New Zealanders the Dead C. It has live snippets from a show at the Palace and recordings from a radio 3CR session. Mind boggling dementia pop!
Then there's Zond, named after a satellite of the USSR. But Zond are broadcasting dark ecstasy, not from space but from a place far below.
They are a Rorschach blot or a Freudian analysis gone wrong. This is Zond's first release.
Spanish Magic are overwhelmed with admiration for these two bands... We asked the two bands a year and half to two years ago now and it's finally happening... patience is a virtue? well the genius on this 12'' is worth all the patience in the world!
The artwork on the 12'' is a mixture of numerous screens, spray-painted stencils and hand-carved stamps. Time consuming stuff... but well worth it. In the words of some, 'unusually PAINstaking''. Each is different to the next. The first batch of covers was damaged in the 2007 Newcastle floods - the office was under water and a car floated down the street outside.
$20 INCLUDING POSTAGE.

New Blood formed in 1998 with a desire to expand their musical concepts and challenge the conventional roles of their instruments - a mix of acoustic hardcore and beautiful lyricism.
In 1999 they were awarded the Melbourne Fringe Festival’s Best Music Award. They released their CD, ''Heavy Water'' in 1999. In 2000 New Blood toured to Europe, performing throughout Poland, Paris (France) and Rostock (Germany).
There have been a couple of different formations including original percussionist, Will Guthrie, though this line up has been consistent since 2000.
In Australia they have performed at the Wangaratta Jazz and Blues Festival, venues in Melbourne, Sydney, Ballarat, Geelong, Albury and Newcastle.
Performances have been rare in recent times due to Ben's relocation to Brisbane. The Big Arse Sunday gig is one of a series of gigs, including the Valley Jazz Festival in April (Brisbane) to celebrate the release of a new CD of material recorded live in Poland. There will be new material performed also in preparation for a 2007 recording.
New Blood are Ben Carr – saxophones, Adam Simmons – saxophones and Joe Talia – drumswww.myspace.com/newbloodrocks

If you've heard any of the Screwtape stuff I've done you'll know what I want. If not, I want to work with other people to just produce pure Noise.
Interested parties please get in touch.
The "vocals" where recorded yesterday evening when I was in intense pain. I've been suffering from dermititus brought on by hayfever and the sun for the last week, and last night it was particularly full-on. Unable to fix it, I used it.

"Lucifer, Great Artist"
Light bit of confection I tossed off this morning after hearing Stockhausen
died. Samples taken from "Klavierstucke" and "Mikrophonie".
Next Wednesday evening the Black Lotus elves embrace the festy season by hosting a Black Christmas party. Why? The glorification of commercial hype, religious persecution, historical improbability and the need to be just plain nice for once!
Expect an acid explosion of electro propaganda muddled with cyber-folkstep, breakcore au go go, rave stabs, melodramaticpopular songs, funk funk, screamo jazzanova and traditional Xmas carols.

'THEORY OF MACHINES' CD LAUNCH

Maximum Arouasl is proud to present the CD launch for
Reykjavik-based composer/producer Ben Frost's "Theory
Of Machines", a challenging and invasive sonic experience of
digitally manipulated litany via minimal,
guitar-oriented compositions. The scale of Ben Frost’s
music is enormous, exploiting every extreme of pitch,
volume and timbre, recalling the unbounded enormity of
the natural world. The changes in the music sometimes
seem as gradual as changes in the weather—and
sometimes as violent.
As the music changes it changes only in texture, color
and intensity so that the sense is not of something
being created, altered or even developed, but of
something already present being slowly illuminated.
This will be Frost's only Melbourne performance!
Helmet Head - an audio visual live performance
featuring Rod Cooper & Anthony Magen, where expanded
cinema, noise and body art transmute. Hand held images
and found objects are combined with a
relentless stream of dvd driven stills. Cooper's
costume combines a
helmet with a projection screen and he provides a fast
chaotic blanket of audio. Not to be missed!
Grand Salvo - Melbourne songsmith Paddy Mann creates
quiet and soulful odes to broken bones and sorrowful
homes, played and recorded with a beauteous aesthetic
and filled with a lamenting sense of heartbreak and
